Cookie policy
Last updated 19 October 2026
Arca uses a small number of cookies and similar browser storage. Here’s each one and why.
Always on (needed for the site to work)
- Sign-in cookies (set by Supabase, named
sb-…-auth-token): keep you signed in. Only set when you sign in. - Trip choice (
w_trip): remembers which trip you’re browsing for, for up to a year. - Your cookie choice (stored in your browser as
waypoint:analytics-consent): remembers your answer about marketing.
Analytics (to run and improve Arca)
We use Mixpanel to understand how Arca is used, so we can fix problems and make it better. It stores an identifier in your browser (local storage, mp_…_mixpanel) and a visit count (arca:visits) so we can tell new visitors from returning ones and see which pages and features work. We use this only to run and improve the service, never for marketing, and we never sell it.
You can object to this at any time. If you opt out, nothing is stored for analytics and each visit counts as a new, anonymous visitor.
Marketing (only if you say yes)
The cookie banner asks whether we may also use this information for marketing, such as learning which posts or campaigns bring people to Arca. If you choose “No thanks” or don’t answer, it isn’t used for marketing. You can change your answer by clearing this site’s data in your browser, which brings the banner back. See our privacy policy for more.
Booking sites and affiliate links
Our pages load a script from Stay22 that turns links to booking sites (such as Booking.com, Expedia and Hotels.com) into affiliate links. When you open one of these links you pass through Stay22 to the booking site, and Stay22 and that site may set cookies to record that Arca sent you, so a booking can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Other links (or Google, which some pass through) may also set the destination site’s own cookies. Their cookie policies apply there.
